Access to Midwifery
Access to Midwifery is a program designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and qualifications required to progress to a degree in midwifery. The program is specifically aimed at individuals who do not have the traditional qualifications required for university entry, such as A-levels or equivalent.
The Access to Midwifery course covers a range of subjects, including midwifery theory and practice, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and maternal and newborn health. It also includes modules on communication skills, clinical skills, and ethical considerations in midwifery practice.
Upon completion of the Access to Midwifery program, students can apply for a degree in midwifery at a university. Midwifery is a specialised field of healthcare that focuses on the care of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Graduates of this degree program can go on to work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, birthing centres, and home birth practices. They may also work as educators, researchers, or midwifery policy makers.
