Access to Biology
An Access to Biology is a qualification designed for students who want to progress to a higher education course in a related field, such as biomedical science, pharmacology, or environmental science. Access to HE courses are specifically designed for people who do not have the traditional qualifications required for university entry, such as A-levels or BTECs.
An Access to Biology course may cover a range of topics, including biochemistry, genetics, ecology, human anatomy and physiology, and microbiology. The course is usually one year in length and is equivalent to studying three A-levels.
The course is designed to give students the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in higher education in a biology-related subject. Upon completion of an Access to Biology course, students will be able to apply for a range of degree courses in biology, including biomedical science, environmental science, and pharmacology.
